Q. I am an Irish born and I don’t have any Pakistani ID. Can I still get Pakistani passport?
A. First you apply for National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) on the basis of your parents ID Cards. You will be issued a Pakistani Passport after you have obtained NICOP.
Q. I came from Pakistan on Pakistani passport, which I subsequently surrendered to get Irish passport. Can I get a Pakistani passport now?
A. Your case will be referred to Pakistan because when you surrendered your old Pakistani passport in favour of Irish passport, you gave up Pakistani citizenship. After approval from Pakistan, which takes 8-10 weeks, you will be issued a new Pakistani passport.
Q. I am out of status Pakistani immigrant, Can I getPakistani Passport?
A. Your case will be referred to Pakistan. After approval, which takes 8-10 weeks, you will be issued a new passport.
Q. My passport is presently with the Department of Justice for some reason. Can I get new Pakistani passport?
A. If your passport is with the Department of Justice and has expired, you can get Pakistani passport provided you produce a letter from Department of Justice that your passport has been submitted to them.
Q. I am residing outside Dublin, Can I send my passport application by post?
A. Yes, if you are residing in some other County, you can apply by post for which you must also send self-addressed stamped envelope along with complete papers. In case of incomplete form or missing signature and thumb impression, the application will not be processed, and returned without action.
Q. I have lost my passport. Can I apply for new passport through post?
A. No. You have to come in person.
Q. I submitted my passport application in person. Can I send somebody else to collect my passport?
A. Yes. In that case you will have to give a duly signed letter of authority to the person who will collect your passport on your behalf. However, if it was a lost passport application, then you will have to come yourself to collect your passport.
Q. How long does it take to process referred cases such as lost passport and asylum applicants?
A. It takes 8-10 weeks to process such cases.
Q. My application was referred to Pakistan but it is more than 8 weeks and I still haven’t got my passport. Why there is such a long delay?
A. Lost passport cases are referred to Pakistan for police and passport verification. It takes on average 8-10 weeks to get a reply. However, if you don’t have any reference of your lost passport such as number, date of issue, place of issue etc., then it takes much longer to get a reply. It is always better to make a copy of your passport or note down its particulars in a diary.
Q. Can I apply for a separate passport for my child who is below 12 years?
A. Yes, you can apply for a separate passport for your child who is below 12 years.
Q. What are the requirements for getting children passport?
A. National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) is issued to the children also. We need Child’s NICOP, full birth certificate in original along with a photocopy bearing parent’s particulars; photocopy of father’s Pakistani passport; three passport size photographs, and completely filled in application form-B (for person below 12 years).
Q. Can I endorse my child on my wife’s passport?
A. Yes, you can endorse your child on your wife’s passport. To do that, you will need child’s full birth certificate in original along with a photocopy bearing parents’ particulars; photocopy of father’s Pakistani passport; mother’s original passport; three passport size photographs, and completely filled in endorsement application form also called form C. If the birth of the child is not registered with the Embassy, an application on form S is also required.
Q. Can a child be endorsed on father’s passport?
A. Yes, a child can be endorsed on father’s passport. To do that the following are needed:
Child’s full birth certificate in original along with a photocopy bearing parents’ particulars; father’s Pakistani passport; three passport size photographs, and completely filled-in endorsement application form also called form C. Most importantly, a written permission from the mother of the child, attested by a solicitor, allowing father to endorse the child on his passport.
Q. I do not have child’s full birth certificate. Can I still apply for his passport/endorsement?
A. No. You must produce child’s full birth certificate bearing parents particulars. You can get duplicate copy from local authorities.
Q. My child was born in Pakistan. Can I use Pakistani birth certificate for child’s passport/endorsement?
A. Yes. But the birth certificate should be first attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad.
Q. What are the requirements for Pakistani visa for Irish Passport holders?
A. The requirements for Pakistani visa for all Irish passport holders are
- Filled-in visa application form
- two photographs and
- passport along with its photocopy.
If it is a business visa, an invitation letter from a company in Pakistan and an introductory letter from your Irish Company will also be required.
Q. Are cheques accepted by the Embassy?
A. No, cheques are not accepted, the fee must be deposited in Embassy’s account No.34497852, Sort Code 901212, in the Bank of Ireland, Merrion Road Branch, opposite St. Vincent Hospital, Dublin-4.
Q. Can we make payment in Cash?
A. Payment of fee in cash is strictly not allowed.
